A sebaceous cyst is a swelling in the skin arising in a sebaceous gland, typically filled with yellowish sebum. A sebaceous gland is a small skin gland that secretes sebum into the hair follicles to lubricate the skin and hair. Sebum is the oily substance secreted by the sebaceous gland.
