“Ram’s Horn” Toenail Trim

“Ram’s horn” nails are caused by a condition known as onychogryphosis, which is characterized by a thickening and lengthening of the nails. There are numerous causes of the condition, and in this case it was caused by trauma to the toe. The patient was embarrassed and didn’t seek help until it began causing her extreme pain. She has come to see podiatrist Dr. Judith Sperling (aka Dr. Nail Nipper). As the trimming continues, you will see black hairs/fibers emerge from underneath the nail. These are dog hairs and sock fibers that were trapped. As always, viewer discretion is advised!
