Mangoworm Expulsion

mango

Mangoworms are the larval stage of a parasitic blow-fly common in East and Central Africa. They prey upon large mammals, including humans. Dogs also fall victim, as today’s clip illustrates. In it we see a sedated dog named Carla, who has been shaved and is being inspected for the worms. We get to see one of them being removed, and the way that it will burrow back inside if not fully expelled. Hats off to Vet Clinic Gambia for the great job that they do to help Carla and other dogs like her!
